Even though the move was due to popular demand, their\u00a0emphasis on Scrum Values hit me more like a surprise\u00a0Apple innovation. I was not expecting it, but\u00a0ended up with something I can really use.<\/p>\n<h3>It&#8217;s all About the Values<\/h3>\n<p>These values add strength to the Scrum community by defining how people, operate and relate to each other. They help create\u00a0a place where people love to work. A quote from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scruminc.com\/scrum-guide-refresh\/\" target=\"_blank\">webinar<\/a> discussing the five Scrum Values stuck with me, &#8220;<em>Just these basic few words energizes the room for conversation and I see the first true collaboration unfold in front of me.&#8221; \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Some may still debate the benefits of\u00a0points vs. time estimation, but it&#8217;s hard to\u00a0argue\u00a0with\u00a0commitment, focus, openness, respect and courage. Here are a few more quotes.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Commitment &#8211;\u00a0<em>Commitment to become a person, better team, better company. A commitment to take your company into the future.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Focus &#8211;\u00a0<em>Delivering twice the product in half the time, is only possible through extreme focus.\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Openness &#8211;\u00a0<em>It is only when you systematically see real things working can you determine progress.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Respect &#8211;\u00a0<em>&#8230;\u00a0for people with their strengths and weaknesses and trying to work with them to help them do the best they can to create the best product they can.\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Courage &#8211;\u00a0<em>This is particularly applicable to management. As Agile transformation occurs, the manager\u2019s role will change.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Unexpected Treasures<\/h3>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scruminc.com\/scrum-guide-refresh\/\" target=\"_blank\">webinar<\/a> also mentions a number of helpful ideas during the question and answer period. Such as this\u00a0important article published in the\u00a0Harvard Business Review on <a href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2016\/05\/embracing-agile\" target=\"_blank\">Embracing Agile<\/a>. Written by Darrell Rigby, Jeff Sutherland and Hirotaka Takeuchi, it\u00a0is one of the best executive summaries of Agile I&#8217;ve seen lately. There is also mention of the\u00a0Harvard Business Review article on the <a href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2016\/04\/the-secret-history-of-agile-innovation\" target=\"_blank\">Secret History of Agile<\/a>. And for those who remain embraced in the\u00a0time estimation over points debate,\u00a0you will likewise not be disappointed. There is mention of processes used by teams which consistently deliver late.
