To whom it may concern:

Larry Lawhead worked at Creative Planet as an eCommerce product specialist from 15 August to 15 May 2001. In that nine-month period, I served as his supervisor for five months as Director of eCommerce Strategy. Larry proved himself to be a valuable employee performing all of his duties exceptionally. I highly recommend him for an eCommerce programmer / Developer position. While at Creative Planet, Larry not only proved a hard working and valuable employee but also learned a great deal concerning the design and implementation of eCommerce systems. I have no doubt that he would contribute greatly to the success of your company.

Unfortunately for Larry, Creative Planet made a strategic decision to postpone the deployment of several product lines related to his activities. As a consequence of these decisions, Creative Planet underwent a reduction of force that included Larry’s position. Nonetheless, should the position that Larry held here at Creative Planet emerge again as a requirement, I would not hesitate to rehire him.

Larry demonstrated several qualities here at Creative Planet that makes hiring him and easy decision. In addition to being very thorough and thoughtful in his work, Larry proved to be “solutions” orientated. On several occasions, Larry identified obstacles in the path of our goal to deploy an eCommerce solution and diligently and independently worked with software venders and consultants to find solutions. Frequently, Larry presented creative solutions to problems that saved both time and money while at the same time providing further value to the end users. After only a few weeks at the company, I knew I could rely on Larry to execute projects with minimal intervention of my time. I cannot say that about many of Larry’s peers.

Larry also greatly contributed to user requirements identification and eCommerce operations planning. Clearly, Larry came to Creative Planet with a skill-set that goes beyond IT functions. With us, Larry played a crucial role in identifying eCommerce application functionality requirements from the perspective of the various user constituencies. Related work consisted of but was not limited to:

Writing use cases, he was always diligent and comprehensive in his work and frequently creative. Larry is the sort of employee that only needs a mandate and little supervision. A self motivated individual, he will find not only a way to complete his assigned task but also take the initiative and find ways to contribute more to the company’s success.

Finally, and certainly not least important, Larry was a joy to work with. He has a “positive can do attitude” that is infectious and is always offering assistance to others. He is honest, direct when required, and possesses a positive mental attitude.

Please call me if you have any questions concerning Larry’s performance at Creative Planet.
